Five bottles covering the entire map
Glenmorangie Original 10is the softest input there is. Highlands, exclusivelyex-bourbon barrels, Scotland's tallest stills — hence the peach, vanilla and floral tone without a single sharp edge. If strong alcohol has turned you off until now, this is a disarming bottle.
Aberlour 12 Double Caskis Speyside in full sherry coat. Aging in a combination of bourbon andoloroso sherry casksgives prune, milk chocolate and walnut. This is the whiskey that explains why people eat dark chocolate and hard cheese with it.
Talisker 10is a turning point. From the Isle of Skye, with moderate smoke and that distinctive onepepper-punchat the end of a sip, like sea salt on the lips. It's not as aggressive as Islay, but it introduces you to a world where whiskey has temperament.

How to drink them so as not to confuse yourself
Forget ice — melted water dilutes and kills the aroma at a temperature where nothing can be felt. Whiskey is drunk onroom temperature, 18–20 °C, from a tulip-shaped glass (Glencairn) that gathers scents towards the nose. First sip without water, to capture the original profile. Thena few drops of water— not a spoon — and you'll notice how the fruits and honey that were hidden behind the alcohol open up.
Aberlour goes well with dark chocolate and mature hard cheese; the join logic is the same as the codewine and cheese— fat and salt calm the alcohol.
