Privacy policy
Short, and without the legal fog: what gets recorded while you read MODUS, who else is looking over your shoulder, and how to turn that off.
Who we are
MODUS is an independent magazine at modusjournal.rs. For anything concerning your data, write to redakcija@modusjournal.rs.
What we record ourselves
Our own counter records page views — the path you opened and the address you came from. It runs without cookies, without accounts and without any identifier that follows you over time: it counts views, not people. Those records only tell us which pieces are being read.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we keep the email address you entered and use it solely to send the newsletter. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, which removes the address from the list.
Google Analytics
Alongside our own counter we use Google Analytics 4 to see how the writing is read — how far people scroll, how long they stay, what they search for on the site, which links they click. We do not collect your name, your email address or anything you type in.
Google Analytics sets cookies and assigns your browser a random identifier, so it can recognise you as the same visitor across visits. Your IP address is processed and shortened on Google's side; we neither see nor store it.
You can switch the measurement off with the browser add-on Google provides, and what Google does with the data is set out in Google's privacy policy. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland no analytics cookies are set until you accept them in the consent banner.
Ads and third-party cookies
We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure how those ads perform.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and you can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.
Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Visitors from those countries are shown a consent banner on their first visit. Your choice is stored in your browser and can be changed at any time — through “Manage options” in the banner, or by clearing this site's cookies in your browser settings, which brings the banner back.
Your rights
You may ask what data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Since we run no user accounts, the only personal data we might hold is a newsletter email address — we delete it on request, or when you unsubscribe.
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes are announced in the newsletter.
