Palic: plain, shadow and pace that doesn't stare
Palic lies on102 meters above sea level, eight kilometers east of Subotica, and it is a lake for those who are not looking for adrenaline but peace. The water is shallow and warm — in mid-July it is easy to swim25 °C— so it is ideal for families and for long breakfasts that turn into lunch. Art Nouveau villas around the coast, a large park with a hundred-year-old tree and a bicycle path around the lake give it the rhythm of a spa from the beginning of the last century.
Swimming is organized on well-maintained beaches; the lake is eutrophic, so in the peak of the season, the water quality is monitored — ask on the spot before you set foot. Perucac and Vlasina: cold water in two different ways

Vlasina is a story in itself. Atabout 1200 meters above sea level, in the southeastern corner of Serbia, this artificial lake has floating peat islands that the wind really moves on the surface. The air is crisp and drops below 15 °C at night and in the middle of summer. Bathing is for the brave and short; Vlasina is not visited for swimming but for the silence, the air without moisture and the sky without light pollution. Whoever comes here, comes to cool down from the inside.
