A circuit of 215 kilometers: Ljig, the serpentines of Rudnik, Oplenac and a plate that is worth every revolution of the engine.
Sunday at seven in the morning, the asphalt is still cold, you leave Belgrade at Ibarsko before the convoy to Cacko wakes up. That's the whole trick of this tour — leave early, eat at two, come back before the sun burns your helmet. The circuit goes via Ljig, climbs to Rudnik, descends towards Gornji Milanovac, cuts to Topola and returns via Arandjelovac.215 kilometers, about four and a half hours of clean gas, plus a lunch break which is the point here, not a footnote.
Route: where exactly do you turn
From Belgrade on the Ibar highway toLiga (about 80 km)— it's a warm-up, right and mild left, stick to the routine and check the tires while they're still warm. In Ljig, turn off the highway toRudnik (regional road, about 25 km)and that's where the reason you came out begins: the ascent to the highest peak of Sumadia,Cvijicev peak at 1132 m, through thick beech and a series ofabout 20 km of serpentinewith radii that ask you to slow down before the entrance and not in it. At the pass throughthe town of Rudnik (about 700 m)stop for a coffee — the main road runs through the town, there are several cafes along the street itself. From there the descent toGornji Milanovac (about 20 km), so easy intersection toTopole (about 35 km), where the gastronomic goal is. The return goes overArandjelovac and Mladenovac to Belgrade (about 90 km)— straighter, faster, just when the engine is warm and you are full.
Lunch: Porridge, wine and a plate for two
The goal is not random. Topola and Mount Oplenac are the heart of Sumadija: above the town is Karađorđe's endowment, the church of St. George with mosaics, and below in the surrounding villages are wineries that you don't have to invent.Aleksandrović Winery in the village of Vinca near Topolais the most famous address — theirsTriumph(Riesling- and Sauvignon-based coupage) is a reason to visit, with a mandatory prior appointment if you want a tasting. When you're on a motorcycle, one hour with lunch and the rest in a bottle at home — that's not a suggestion, but a rule.

Why this direction and not the other way around?
You drive the Rudnik Serpentine in the morning when the asphalt is clean and dry, not in the afternoon when the dew is falling in the shade of the beech trees and the traffic is heavy. Lunch falls in the middle of the day in Topola, the return takes a more direct route when you are tired — the logic of the circle is to put the hard ride at the beginning, and the rest and the straight line at the end.
